February 2025
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Kirkland City Councilmember Jon Pascal today announced his campaign for re-election, vowing to continue his work on responsible growth, public safety, and smart investments in the city’s future.
“Kirkland is at a turning point,” Pascal said. “We have seen incredible progress in improving our transportation system, expanding parks, and making our community safer and more connected. I will continue to champion policies that enhance our quality of life, protect what makes Kirkland special, and keep our city moving forward in a balanced, responsible way.”
Pascal, first elected in 2017, has earned a reputation as one of the more accessible council members, consistently responding to residents and working to connect them with city staff to address their concerns.
A Record of Accomplishment—A Vision for the Future
As a transportation engineer, small business owner, and longtime Kirkland resident, Pascal has worked tirelessly on:
- Keeping Kirkland Safe by prioritizing and funding police, fire, and crisis response while ensuring emergency services keep pace with the growing population.
- Building a Transportation System That Works for Everyone by improving safety, expanding transit, and constructing more sidewalks and bicycle facilities.
- Protecting & Expanding Parks and Open Spaces by securing funding for upgraded park amenities, preserving green spaces, and improving accessibility for all residents.
- Creating More Housing Opportunities by encouraging the construction of all types of housing, streamlining regulations, and ensuring public infrastructure and services keep pace with growth.
- Strengthening Kirkland’s Economy by supporting small businesses, seeking investments and partnerships, limiting tax increases, and ensuring responsible budgeting.
- Enhancing Community Engagement by listening to residents and working to make sure local voices help shape policy – not just react to it.
Why This Election Matters
Kirkland is growing. Pascal wants the city to stay on a well-planned, sustainable path that benefits all residents—balancing growth with the infrastructure and services needed to support it.
“We need real solutions—pragmatic, data-driven, and community-focused. We need housing and infrastructure that works together, making sure growth will benefit all residents—while investing in solutions that keep Kirkland safe, livable, and thriving,” Pascal said.
Community Leaders Endorse Pascal’s Leadership
Years of regional representation and advocacy for Kirkland have earned Pascal the support of other leaders.
Rod Dembowski, King County Councilmember, praised Pascal’s dedication to regional solutions. “Jon does his homework and always comes prepared. We are well-served to have his thoughtful, informed, and independent leadership on the City Council.”
Pascal has worked with the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) to build more school classrooms, improve playfields, and make it safer to walk to school.
Eric Laliberte, LWSD Board Member said “Jon has been a strong partner in making sure Kirkland’s growth aligns with school capacity and infrastructure needs. His leadership has been invaluable in ensuring we plan for student success.”
Former Kirkland Mayor and State Representative Amy Walen underscored the need for Pascal’s continued leadership. “Having served with Jon on City Council, I know firsthand he is the kind of leader Kirkland needs—thoughtful, experienced, and dedicated to making our city a better place for everyone.”
Throughout his time on Council, Pascal has worked hard to ensure local voices shape outcomes, which was reinforced by Scott Morris, President of the Finn Hill Neighborhood Alliance. “Jon believes in a Kirkland where every resident has a say in shaping our future. His dedication to open communication and transparent decision-making is what makes him such a strong advocate for our neighborhoods.”
